Get Your Gorlok On

Want to spruce up your wardrobe and show your Webster spirit at the same time? In honor of Webster’s centennial, the Alumni Association is selling several new Webster-themed wardrobe accessories: a necktie and a bow tie – both featuring the Gorlok – and a silver charm bracelet. These attractive pieces were created by St. Louisan Diane Katzman, a nationally acclaimed jewelry and accessories designer. The necktie is solid blue with a subtle tone-on-tone Gorlok pattern, while the yellow bow tie features blue Gorloks. The bracelet has seven charms, including the Gorlok, the Webster logo, the Webster Hall turrets, a mortarboard, ivy leaf, pennant and globe.

A ‘How-To’ for Hipsters (and Hipster Wannabes)

According to the blog Bow Tie Aficiando, “These days, hipsters have claimed many clothing items as part of their uniform — plastic frame glasses, sweaters, facial hair, etc. Bow ties also fall into this category.” And, as hipsters know, clip-on versions of the bow tie are just so not cool. In this video, Webster Associate Professor DJ Kaiser, who sports a bow tie nearly every day, demonstrates the fine art of tying a bow tie…in this case, our new Gorlok bow tie.
