On behalf of the Webster University Alumni Association, I am proud to present to you our sixth issue of Glimpse. A lot has happened at Webster over the past six months, and I am excited to share our updates with you.

On September 15-16, we kicked-off the new school year with Homecoming: Reunion and Family Weekend, attended by alumni, students, parents, family and friends. Events included the Shop, Rock & Glow Festival, Lightning Talks and the Homecoming Dinner and Dance as well as a special celebration in honor of the University Center’s 25th Anniversary and the Student Life Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Thirty members of the Class of 1967, the 50th Reunion Honor Class, joined in the festivities and were welcomed as the newest members of the Golden Circle at the Golden Circle Luncheon.

During the month of October, alumni around the world took part in Webster’s annual day of community service by volunteering for Webster Works Worldwide 23. In total, 86 alumni participated in 13 service projects for a total of 298 volunteer hours. Alumni volunteered with such organizations as the Salvation Army, Ronald McDonald House, KidSmart, Supplies Over Seas, and Haven for Hope.

November brought the launch of the Alumni Association’s new website with friendlier navigation and fresh features, including a business directory for Gorlok-owned businesses, a catalog of notable alumni and past alumni award winners, and updated alumni benefits and career resources. If you have not visited the site already, please be sure to check it out!

Finally, as we celebrated our mid-year graduates at December Toast, we encouraged them to stay connected to Webster in two very special ways – and now I encourage you to do the same. First, display your diploma with pride in your home or office as a daily reminder of all you have accomplished both at Webster and beyond. And second, join fellow alumni and participate in at least one Alumni Association event this year. From social events to professional networking and community service opportunities across the globe, there really is something for everyone. I invite you to mark your calendars for the Conservatory of Theatre Arts 50th Anniversary Celebration, April 20-22, 2018 and Homecoming: Reunion and Family Weekend, September 28-29, 2018. I look forward to reconnecting with you in 2018!
